ERP & IT-enabled business transformation

Although we haven’t yet arrived in a “post-pandemic” world, organizations are in a rush to provide the most value to their customers and regain lost traction. As a result, they are looking at optimizing their business processes with the help of technology: IT-enabled business transformation. This transformation will allow organizations to further increase  visibility, intelligence and efficiency in all aspects of their business based on their data (see also our previous Compact edition on “the path to data-driven organizations”).

Within IT-enabled business transformation, the transition to (SaaS) ERP solutions also comes into play. ERP solutions  have already been out there for several decades and can help organizations by streamlining and integrating their business processes and key master and transactional data into a single system. With the introduction and fast-paced improvement of SaaS-based ERP solutions , these solutions have the potential to become the nucleus of high-quality business data. Although SaaS ERP solutions provide standard functionality, organizations have come to realize that they can leverage these solutions to be “future-ready”.

With abovementioned developments in mind, the Compact Editorial Board decided to present an edition that is focused on ERP-enabled business transformation. This Compact edition weighs in on the recent technological developments in ERP, and how organizations are leveraging their core ERP solutions to “be more and do more”. There are some riveting client cases about challenges with ERP and how they were solved with innovative, out-of-the-box solutions. Furthermore, this edition touches upon the way data is being used to propel growth and how the Audit function is leveraging the ERP data for achieving efficiency and growth.

We take great pride in presenting this Compact edition and are thankful to all the authors who have contributed. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy this edition and see possibilities to apply the learnings within your organization. We invite you to contact us or any of the contributing authors in case you like to discuss the ideas and concepts presented in this edition.
